Robertson Building Systems presented Galbraith award for 2017 ‘Office Building of the Year’ of medical office building.
Galbraith Pre-Design, Inc. was awarded a plaque for the 2017 ‘Office Building of the Year’ by Robertson Building Systems. The award was presented to co-owner Mark Galbraith in recognition for the construction of Walnut Bottom Family Practice, a medical office building located at 103 N Baltimore Avenue in Mount Holly Springs, Pennsylvania.
Ben Hand, project manager at Robertson Building Systems, noted, “This facility skillfully blends traditional construction materials with both smooth and textured IMPs for the wall and roof systems. Galbraith opted for these panels to be painted in an aesthetically pleasing Tahoe Blue that matches the trim, gutter, and downspouts. You can’t help but admire that level of attention to detail in the design of a building.”
The Robertson Photo Awards are given annually and are designed to encourage professionalism and enrich the quality of images in the metal building industry. The Robertson 2017 ‘Office of the Year’ award recipient was determined by a panel of judges comprised of project managers, drafters, estimators, and engineers. They unanimously selected Galbraith’s photo of Walnut Bottom Family Practice as the clear winner of the office building category.
“Metal buildings consistently face the stigma that they are unable to be appealing to the eye. They are often considered unaesthetic and boxy,” said Galbraith. “Our metal-building projects consistently break through negative stereotypes to prove that beauty and flexible design can simultaneously exist in metal construction.”
The Walnut Bottom Family Practice facility boasts eight exam rooms, phlebotomy, nurses’ stations, business and staff offices, etc. To complete the building, Galbraith utilized a clear-span structural frame, eliminating the need for interior columns. This allows the building to possess a spacious, open floor plan. For efficiency, Metl-Span fluted 42” wide and 3” thick embossed insulated metal panels were utilized for exterior walls. A similar product, Metl-Span CFR 36” wide and 4” thick, was used as a standing seam insulated roof panel. This will provide all of the benefits of a conventional standing seam metal roof with the benefit of reduced labor and energy efficiency.
